UN: The Common Core Document of Finland has been published

Finland has provided the UN its Common Core Document, which can be used by all treaty monitoring bodies. The Document improves the targeting of the contents of treaty specific periodic reports.

According to the Harmonized Guidelines on Reporting under the International Human Rights Treaties the Member States should provide a Common Core Document. The Document contains information on the State’s constitutional structure, administration, judiciary and the administration of justice, the constitution and the relevant legislation concerning human rights, population and the framework regarding the protection and promotion of human rights. The Common Core Document also includes relevant statistics. The Document can be updated.

The Common Core Document can be used by all UN treaty monitoring bodies. It enables the treaty specific periodic reports to be more closely targeted to the treaty specific questions and not to the basic information.
