HRC submits its report to UN Committee against Torture

Submission is the first part of the simplified reporting procedure on the implementation of the Convention against Torture.

Human Rights Centre submitted its report to the UN Committee against Torture on 24 June 2019 on the implementation of the UN Convention against torture in Finland.

Submission is the first part of the simplified reporting procedure. The information helps the UN Committee to draft the List of Issus Prior to reporting. The Government's replies to the questions serves as its periodic reporting on the implementation.

The themes in the HRC's submission:

  • General information on the National Human Rights situation
  • Ten Key Problems in Fundamental and Human Rights in Finland
  • Violence against women and domestic violence
  • “Honour” –based crimes
  • Trafficking in human beings
  • Non-Refoulement and Access to Justice
  • Torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment
  • Liberty, security and treatment of persons deprived of their liberty
  • Rights of the child   

The Committee will decide on the List of Issues in its session starting on 11 November 2019. The deadline of the Government's replies will be in November-December 2020.
